The side event is organized in conjuncture with the Preparatory Meeting for the UN Ocean Conference on SDG 14, to promote the incorporation of ocean history and underwater cultural heritage in the global work on the oceans and sustainability efforts targeted in this direction. Protecting underwater cultural heritage from imminent threats and fostering its research facilitates a more comprehensive protection and understanding of the oceans.
